Mobile client for Android released in public beta

Today, I am glad to announce the first public beta release of our mobile client for Android smartphones!

For years, players have been asking us whether a mobile PkHonor app would ever be released. For years, we said that it would probably never happen, because developing such an app would take months, if not years.

Much like AI-assisted development allowed us to finally release a RuneLite version of PkHonor, it has now enabled us to create our very own mobile app from scratch in just two weeks. Two very intense weeks of development, but still only two weeks! The impact of AI-assisted development on PkHonor simply cannot be overstated.

Due to copyright-related restrictions, we are unable to distribute PkHonor through the Google Play Store. The app must therefore be downloaded and installed directly from our website.

To try it out, simply take out your Android smartphone, open your mobile browser and visit the following link:

https://client.pkhonor.net/cd/PkHonor_beta-mobile.apk

Due to Android’s strict security measures, you will probably be presented with several warnings. First, Android may ask whether you want to allow your browser to install apps. It may then block the installation because it does not recognise PkHonor or its publisher. In that case, you may have to tap “More information” followed by “Install anyway”. Android may then ask once again whether you are really, really sure.

After approving all of that, you should be able to play PkHonor on your Android smartphone :D!

The app automatically checks for updates, although Android will still ask for your approval before installing each update. When I tested the auto-updater, Android even offered to scan the app for security issues. I let it perform the scan, and it reported that the app appeared to be safe. So, yay!

Please keep in mind that this is a public beta. Bugs, strange quirks and compatibility issues are inevitable. Please report any problems you encounter with the mobile app on this thread.

Next, we will start developing a responsive web client so that iPhone users can - hopefully - play PkHonor from their mobile browser.

More great things to come!

I'm unable to reproduce any of those issues on the mobile client. Can you tell us the brand and model of the mobile phone you have (like "Samsung Galaxy S9") and possibly post a screenshot of the issues you're encountering? Sounds like these bugs might be occurring on specific series of Android smartphones.
Would you by any chance also know the Android version? You should be able to find this in settings > status (all the way at the bottom) > software update (it shows "Android 17" for me).

Any idea what version? We tested it on a Samsung Galaxy S10 from 2019 and it worked perfectly. That smartphone is stuck on Android 12 and can no longer receive any updates, but it supports the mobile PkHonor client just fine.

The mining bug is also present in the runelite client, so that's a confirmed bug.

Is it possible for you to share a screenshot of the black water and trees at skilling? Might give us an idea what's going on.
And does the game appear to run smoothly, or does it have a low (or super low) framerate and constantly stutter?
