For years, players have been asking us whether a mobile PkHonor app would ever be released. For years, we said that it would probably never happen, because developing such an app would take months, if not years.
Much like AI-assisted development allowed us to finally release a RuneLite version of PkHonor, it has now enabled us to create our very own mobile app from scratch in just two weeks. Two very intense weeks of development, but still only two weeks! The impact of AI-assisted development on PkHonor simply cannot be overstated.
Due to copyright-related restrictions, we are unable to distribute PkHonor through the Google Play Store. The app must therefore be downloaded and installed directly from our website.
To try it out, simply take out your Android smartphone, open your mobile browser and visit the following link:
https://client.pkhonor.net/cd/PkHonor_beta-mobile.apk
Due to Android’s strict security measures, you will probably be presented with several warnings. First, Android may ask whether you want to allow your browser to install apps. It may then block the installation because it does not recognise PkHonor or its publisher. In that case, you may have to tap “More information” followed by “Install anyway”. Android may then ask once again whether you are really, really sure.
After approving all of that, you should be able to play PkHonor on your Android smartphone
The app automatically checks for updates, although Android will still ask for your approval before installing each update. When I tested the auto-updater, Android even offered to scan the app for security issues. I let it perform the scan, and it reported that the app appeared to be safe. So, yay!
Please keep in mind that this is a public beta. Bugs, strange quirks and compatibility issues are inevitable. Please report any problems you encounter with the mobile app on this thread.
Next, we will start developing a responsive web client so that iPhone users can - hopefully - play PkHonor from their mobile browser.
More great things to come!
