Enabling friends to team up and working together either as a duo, or with up to five people in one group working towards an Ironman account!

Everyone take a vote, and lets see if we can get this brought into PK.

I think the osrs devs had a plan for this allowing people to join preexisting groups as well as kicking players based on a group vote. I don't remember what their ideas entailed but if you watch a couple of their vids you might be able to find it.Pvm porn wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 8:05 am I have a take on this but I'm going to save it until the devs respond, it seems good in theory until you realize it will eventually just turn into regular ironman with some items lost to inactive friends at the later stages of the game, so that being said it's really dependent on the trade off between how long it would take to develop and how many people would get more time played out of this than regular ironman. I'm not informed enough to say how long the dev time would actually be tbh, Thoby has been killing it, if it wouldn't be too bad then...
Allowing people to join pre-existing groups?? Surely only if they're within 100 total levels or something so a level 3 doesnt get boosted into oblivion with useful items and meat shields...Kenneth wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 8:41 amI think the osrs devs had a plan for this allowing people to join preexisting groups as well as kicking players based on a group vote. Like I said I don't know what their prerequisites where and if we did implement group ironman we would most likely need to make those fit our server.Lieven wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 10:13 amAllowing people to join pre-existing groups?? Everything actually seems good up to here, but I agree this is a kind of important conundrum. I think because of the way PkH is set up (instances for irons) it makes it difficult to rationalize being able to drop trade items or just convert to a regular account like OS, because on OS an ironman and a regular account have played the game exactly the same with only restrictions and NO benefits for irons whatsoever. However it's also hard to rationalize forcing someone to play solo ironman who didn't opt into that.Kenneth wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 12:13 pm I think that criteria would work fine here other than the conundrum of what does a removed player get to keep from their previous group (if anything) and if they wanted to continue playing should we give them the choice to become a regular ironman (without the ability to go back) if they cant recruit new players to start a new group with that previous account. Thoughts?
That is why I think items obtained in a group stay in the group. Either way there is going to be long rants about an angry player getting kicked here on the forums, I think its the only real solution. A community bank along with each individual group members bank may also solve this issue, but if you trade an important item one or two weeks before the player gets kicked or if that player refuses to give it back to the group before he gets kicked it could also cause problems.Pvm porn wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 5:02 pm Everything actually seems good up to here, but I agree this is a kind of important conundrum. I'm also almost positive items aren't linkable to the person who got them as a drop originally, and I feel like it wouldn't be friendly in terms of storage server-side to start attaching that data to every single item. So it's also hard to return everyone's items to their owners. That's at least AFAIK.
Maybe someone with a better take on this than me can come in and say something. I saw this feature on another server once and I thought it'd be cool. But on the other hand that was a server where there was apparently no care given to late-game progression and they really just wanted new players to join, say "oh cool", donate, and quit in 2 weeks. If we could not go that route that'd be ideal. But I think it would be fun and possibly attract players' friends if done right and with decent thought given to it.
